Inter Miami is coming off a decisive 4-0 win over Toronto. It was a quick rebound from their 5-2 loss against Atlanta United last week — their first in the two months since Messi joined the team, and notably without the Argentinian superstar in the starting lineup.
Messi played 37 minutes against Toronto, and didn’t find the net during that time. Then, he left the pitch due to an injury. It was later explained that Messi is suffering from aggravation of some old scar tissue, and that he will not play Sunday against Orlando City. Jordi Alba is also expected to miss out on Sunday’s match.
Orlando City is coming off a 2-0 loss to NYC FC last week, but they remain the #2 squad in the Eastern Conference overall, with a 14-8-7 record. Last time these sides squared off was in the Leagues Cup Round of 32, when Inter Miami won 3-1.
