Going off this concept though, do you think the team’s cohesion, agression, and support for Messi played a part in winning the World Cup? If so, how important was it?
Going further, it’s long been established that a positive locker room atmosphere influences a team’s success in; look at both Real Madrid and Barcelona in their primes (and, well, most teams managed by Jose Mourinho)… those squads were true cohesive units, and – based on the collective response — anything that happened to one player essentially happened to all XI. Compare this to sides like Manchester City under Pep Guardiola… while they’ve obviously done very well domestically, there are still questions asked about their mentality (and cohesion together) which may perhaps explain their struggles in European competition. Lastly, with this current Arsenal side, it’s no question that their squad acts as a solid unit, and now given the quality of recent transfers, they’re finally able to compete as a world-class club.
