Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has chastised fans for jeering Lionel Messi once again during the club’s 1-1 draw with RC Lens.
The 34-year-old forward opened the scoring with a spectacular long-range goal that helped Les Parisiens win Ligue 1 for the first time. Despite the positive result, a section of the crowd booed Messi, and Pochettino was not pleased with how the former Barcelona star was treated.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager also congratulated Argentina captain Lionel Messi on his achievements in France, including winning his first title.
Pochettino was quoted after the game as saying the following (via A24):
“It’s unbelievable; they’re hard to accept.” They are unfamiliar with situations that are unlikely to occur. How great he is, what he contributes to football, and what he will contribute to football in the future. I’m glad he did well. After the game, I congratulated him on his record and gave him another title.”
It’s worth noting thаt this isn’t the first time Lionel Messi hаs been booed by PSG supporters. During their home gаme аgаinst FC Bordeаux eаrlier this yeаr, the seven-time Bаllon d’Or winner wаs booed.
