Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has hit out at Lionel Messi after the latest batch of award ceremonies. The Argentine won the Ballon d’Or while the Pole lifted FIFA’s The Best. Asked about Leo not voting for him in the latest gala, Lewandowski replied: “I voted for him because I recognise what he has done last year and the year before. Messi voted for me in the Ballon d’Or. Why did his point of view change after that? I don’t know. I’m not complaining. He made his decision and that’s it. In any case, I won the prize, so it’s easy to accept it.
“I have come to the conclusion that the FIFA award matters more than the Ballon d’Or.
« Only journalists vote in the latter whereas football professionals and the media vote in The Best. Captains and coaches from each national team can analyse it more realistically and more objectively.”
