Lionel Messi’s debut this season is expected to be pushed back once again as the player nurses an injury, although Luis Suárez could be back in action against Valencia.
The pair have similar problems stemming from muscle injuries. Messi’s calf problem came up in his very first training session this season and it’s kept him from playing at all this term. Suárez on the other hand, started the first match but injury forced him out soon after. The injury is said to be similar, but Messi apparently had something of a re-injury in the middle, which thankfully the Uruguayan never felt.
Messi probably will not play against Valencia this weekend, and he’s still in doubt to play against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League after. However, Messi is fully expected to be ready to play against Granada on September 21st, unless an unforeseen surprise or setback arises.
Suárez is a possibility vs. Valencia but it is not assured that he will play.
